I understand the point you're trying to make here, but the election is still well over a year away. Lesser-known candidates are using policy as way to gain notoriety. Biden doesn't need that, so he has plenty of time to talk about his policy/views and control the conversation.

I imagine this will change once the debates begin and Biden has to argue policy positions

...and this is how we end up with the broken system we have. In any sane democracy, BIden and Trump would be in prison.

we do need to realize that it is how a LOT of people vote. name and face recognition are sometimes enough

I always go back to how just four years after the most corrupt presidency of the 20th century (Nixon), voters were back to voting for another Republican (Reagan) whose own WH ended with more indictments than any other, and they laud him a "hero". Voters don't pay attention.

The bar is way lower after Trump....but Biden is much more qualified than Sanders is many areas

Ppl should at the very least know what is important to them. Healthcare? Education? Gun control? LGTBQ rights? Women's Health? Prioritize. As voting time comes, a lot on groups will release a guide of what each candidates focus is on/voting rec is. Go from there. Not who is nice.

That’s the main problem with voting overall in this country and any democracy and same as it was in high school: people aren’t educating themselves about anything. They’re voting on who’s the cutest or cuddliest or has the best smile.

I lost friends in 2016 whose only argument was “he’ll never win” referring to Sanders vs. Clinton. Policy was not the issue and was not to be discussed. Pull my hair out.

Biden is a Mrs. Doubtfire, knowledgeable placeholder, doing decent things, keeping the family and the planet safe, until 2024 when @staceyabrams or whatever fire-breather can get elected! For now the grey haired nanny is ok with me if he ends up the nominee.
