The Crime Bill of 1994 was supported by black community leaders. You have the benefit of hindsight. You weren't there when people in the projects were afraid to leave their houses, and were demanding that something be done. If you were, you might have supported it too.

It was terrifying for me. I had nightmares about my child being shot. I was robbed. Home robbed. People forget or blessedly don't know. So many state laws took away our freedoms trying to deal with it similar to patriot act. Not a simple issue.

This is why I am kind of an age snob. Not in a bad way, just quirky. Living life is like being a tree in the forest. All the trees that are there at the same time have the same experience. A thin ring during the drought. You can read about it but it isn’t the same.

Perspective I think comes from experiences. Historical things don’t happen in a vacuum. There is a lot of things happening all at the same time. You have to have lived in that moment. Like I said quirky.

Yep. Because it included the violence against women act. One of the annoying truths about how legislation is crafted in Congress. Rather than multiple bills, they bundle garbage with the good, knowing that the only way the good will be passed is if they get their garbage.
