What are voting rights? The United States, all these years later, still does not have a clear answer. And that makes me sad.

I support a constitutional amendment simply granting all citizens of voting age the right to vote. It’s embarrassing that it doesn’t already exist. Because it doesn’t, politicians and pundits are left to say who they think should or should note vote.https://www.fairvote.org/right_to_vote_amendment …

I think Sanders spoke to the depth of the question. A good starter, is it being used for other purpose? I think so.. my opinion

Bernie didnt think it through either, to judge from his answer to Cuomo's follow up.

I think they haven't thought it through. Why not let someone they don't like vote? Because that's the argument. They name labels of people they find detestable. But what is the right to vote? It's trusting that the majority is better than a power in the select few.

New Slavery = unfair share of stops, arrests, convictions, & longer sentences of African-Americans. Let them vote!

I could see this backfiring actually. I’m still undecided but it seems republicans control the prison system and could use it to their advantage. I’m all for restoring rights after prison but not sure yet on people in prison.

Shaun I believe the present Democratic Party needs a serious overhaul, they no longer represent the ideals they preach to seek votes. A change is needed and it’s needed now. This party is becoming an extension of corporate politics and does not put forth enough effort for change

Been a Democrat my whole life and I think voting rights should only be given to those who aren't in prison but once you get out then of course your rights should be given back & then you can vote except (terrorist) terrorist no matter what kind should never be allowed to vote

You should be embarrassed but a lying hypocrite Bernie Sanders and his millionaire status. Also is lying about marching with Dr. King. He based his entire campaign last time on millionaires and the one percenters being the detriment to the nation, now it's billionaires. He lied

Thats has been the PROBLEM with Democrats! They tout "Diversity & Minority" and have zero clue on issues affecting minorities, while GOP knows what the want. Time for progressives to tackle this

This is the reasoning behind the social contract. Once you break the law, you're deemed unstable, untrustworthy,+ in need of rehabilitation. This is why restoring voting rights to ex-convicts is pretty uncontroversial. Also, voting rights aren't actual rights, they're privileges.
