This is so ugly. A bi-partisan super-majority of people in Florida voted to give people convicted of felonies back their right to vote. Republicans are now trying to roll that back for partisan politics - saying you can only vote if you pay certain fees, etc. The New Jim Crow.

Shaun, look into the “incarceration fee” of $50 per day and how easy it is to rack up 5 figure debts to the state for relatively short prison stays and see if this isn’t a de facto overturn of the will of the people.

Not to mention, the FL people not withstanding, it is ABSOLUTELY UNCONSTITUTIONAL to ban Ex-Cons from voting. They paid their debt to society, are re-integrating into society, it is their RIGHT to vote. Violation of the Equal Protections Clause and Taxation w/oRepresentation.

It is not unconstitutional. It is up to each state to set the rules whether ex-felons can vote. Not saying it is right but it is enumerated to the individual states, not federal law.
