BREAKING: The Prime Minister of New Zealand, @jacindaardern, just announced a full and immediate national ban on all assault rifles.

In Scotland following a school shooting in Dunblane, hand guns were banned and other gun restrictions were brought into being. In 2005 a toddler was killed by an air weapon, all air weapons in Scotland now need licenses.
Tazers and stun guns are prohibited in Scotland and classed as firearms, as are CS spray, pepper spray and any other spray or projectile which fires or discharges a noxious substance or which discharges electricity. Same as batons, knives, swords, throwing stars etc.
If weapons made the citizenry safer then you'd expect the violent crime rate to be through the roof. It isn't.
The US should be the safest of all, if having more guns makes for a safer society.

I agree with their decision. But they don’t have a second amendment. And if no one is willing to address that, gun control in the US will be toothless. So just standing up & saying “yea, that’s what we should do”. Is another version of “thoughts and prayers”.
We haven’t banned all guns - just the ones which are used for mass murder. pretty sure the second amendment says “right to bear assault rifles” - banning certain weapons doesn’t limit the right to have guns, it’s not that hard.

I am so not used to seeing courage on gun control - someone pinch me - is this the impossible dream or JUST BEHAVING LIKE A RESPONSIBLE POLITICIAN AND HUMAN.
So has anyone looked into what it takes to relocate to New Zealand? I hear they have a pretty good rugby team too.

AMERICA: #Amendthe2nd. Ban public ownership of firearms with the exception of law enforcement, military and shooting ranges. Impose an 8 year firearms amnesty, then its a mandatory jail term if found in possession. If Aids & cancer can be treated then so can this.
Because if we’ve learned anything from history it’s that the public is safest when ONLY the military and police have guns.
