Sad facts. Most politicians in NYC are more afraid of reprimand from the parents whose kids get into specialized schools (and their allies) than the largely working class POC parents whose kids don't.

This is not new. Specialized high schools have been like this since I was a kid. Not saying NYC politicians won't say or do anything but historically they've been scared to.
