I'm convinced that many of them cannot bring themselves to call out #Islamophobia because they feel uncomfortable with facing the subconscious suspicion that this particular monster may lurk hidden within their own hearts.
I see a lot of very respected leaders basically "All Lives Mattering" the issue of Islamophobia. When a bigoted Islamophobe massacres 49 Muslims - because they were Muslims - we need you to call out Islamophobia by name. It's not enough to say "we must fight all hate," etc.

My heart is so broken for NZ. To select one group to say call it by name with so much bigotry and hatred going on. No one is exempt. This is more hypocrisy that seems to be the rule of the day.

Yesterday I called a Muslim Saudi client(one year in the US, married to an American) to express condolences, and he said the same thing to me . That it wasn’t about his religion, that tomorrow the target will be another group. It was very odd .

He and I have had long political discussions. I didn’t get into it with him yesterday; just said I was concerned and knew how I felt when a synagogue was shot up so I was calling to express sympathy. He said “I know you’re sensitive”and “that was kind”.
