Don’t you tell me I’m politicizing this massacre of Muslims in New Zealand. The massacre was overtly political. The murderer said as much - literally in 65 different ways. And he said he was inspired by Trump & how Trump has brought white people together for a common cause.
The horrifying thing is, people like this are 100% insane, but they aren’t out of their minds. They lack any empathy or value for others’ lives, but they plan and do these things for a reason. Pretending it was a random, mindless act isn’t going to help prevent more of the same.
They lack empathy yes, but that lack of empathy is also increased by “dehumanizing” groups of “others”. Dehumanizing a race, religion, gender etc leads to acts of violence against people the perpetrator deems“less than human”
Yeah, of course. Vocal dehumanization helps people justify their pre-existing prejudices, and when those prejudices are extreme enough, it catalyzes tragedies like this.
He did it so that the media would do exactly this, start attacking everyone and split us up even further. He’s getting exactly what he wanted.
