You’re right that good candidates can make a whole field better. A field of good candidates also can produce a nominee that is performing at full potential.

Absolutely. It's necessary. My working theory is that Hillary would've benefited greatly from such a field in 2016. I believe she still would've won, but a competitive primary would've helped her campaign in measurable ways.
-
Folks may be surprised to hear I agree. Being the uber frontrunner comes with a lot of drawbacks. I am a fan of big primaries
-
Me too. Obama, of course, emerged from one in 2008 and it was essential for us his success in the general.

You guys are dead right about this.

You do? Shaun, examine his VOTING record - one that shows how many times he has voted with trump. He is NOT a Progressive in any way. It's just hype. And his wife has more money than what one would call "comfortable." WHO is supporting him? He's a younger Joe Biden. Nope.
-
I’m supporting Bernie.
-
Yes, you have said so and I believe you. For many, though, the jury is out as to whether Beto is principled. He reminds me of Joe Biden. That is not a compliment.

I wish Beto good luck! While he runs for President, I'll take on Sen. John Cornyn. I also appreciate his kind words of support for our 2020 grassroots U.S. Senate campaign. Let's turn Texas Blue

I’m for
#Bernie2020 because Bernie understands that we need a real movement to address the seriousness of our challenges but I don’t feel compelled to hate all his competitors. I’m hoping for a debate about vision with less needless toxicity. I don’t see Beto as a smear merchant. -
Most Bernie supporters are all about policy. There are some pretenders running that say they are for some of the same policies, only to walk them back 24 hrs later, or do nothing once in office. So we do research on all candidates which is misconstrued as hate
-
I agree and Bernie himself would definitely rather only talk about policy. I also don't think bringing up people's past votes and campaign funding is a smear as some like to claim (although we've all seen how that can get twisted). People should be able to defend their positions.
-
They can't defend those votes or positions, when they pander for our votes. So they will rather call it a smear to try to push it under the carpet and not be held accountable for their actions

I disagree. Beto was not forthright with TX voters about his charter school ties. That fact was exposed only AFTER the election. Members of both parties are trying to get rich off of our nation's children via charter schools that have no oversight, no accountability.

You are repeating
@SarahKSilverman’s 2016 mistake of giving mixed messages on candidates, then she jumped to Hillary’s campaign shamelessly. Don’t repeat that mistake, be for one principle, see Beto’s voting record n then talk about principles. Don’t misuse your platform. -
Compromise and combine forces. Sanders / O'Rourke or O'Rourke / Sanders 2020.
