My son just drove by Facebook to see if the power was still on.
It's wild that anything or anybody could take companies as big as Facebook & Instagram down for this long.

I think they're testing the new messenger merge...and not saying anything about it, yet.

I’d say they have moved new software into their Production systems and there’s been a fault that wasn’t discovered during Testing. It’s not uncommon in complex IT systems.

Yes. Sometimes it can take a lot of time to identify the fault and then determine whether to roll back to the earlier software version (a major undertaking) or to attempt to develop a fix, test the fix, then implement the fix (also a major undertaking).
