A young man languished for 3 years at Rikers and died there because someone ACCUSED him of stealing a backpack. No trial. No hearing. That's what I think about when I see bullshit sentences like this. #KaliefBrowder

Exactly. Look at who gets mercy in our system: the white, powerful, and privileged. In Manafort’s case, the person who least deserved it.

It pays to be rich. It pays to be white. It pays to be able to pick a rightwing judge.

I care. It sends a message that our government is FUCKED. He should have received 19-24 years. Here's hoping the Southern District picks that shit up and runs with it.

Just add this to list of insidious people that continue to plague any societal progress. Some of whom are the same characters and our “judicial” system lets them go on. If you haven’t already, please listen to the podcast

So when we “I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.” I’m supposed to believe that justice is FOR ALL...but it isn’t and hasn’t been..so?

If this was a black man that same judge would’ve gave him the 24 years in prison for the same crime.

Good point. I don't want to live in a prison state either, but I would like to see the gangsters ands banksters get sentences that deter them from their evil ways. The people who speak truth to power get the harshest sentences.
-
Don’t be fooled I know judge T.S. Ellis personally & he is the toughest/worst judge in VA 4th circuit. If he gave a light sentence there was definitely foul play. Ellis has to be pushing close to 90 by now. He is a horrible miserable person & always struck me as dishonest.
-
I believe you and there is definitely foul play. But I also don't want to live in a society where harsh sentences are given to anyone.
