The affordability of housing is the real issue. Rent is astronomically high for most. Millions of homes sit vacant because banks want over-value for what properties are actually worth. The real problem is GREED.

Yes, because that project takes 15yrs and requires citizens from every state to complete it. Not to mention it will be a federal job which they to pay higher wages. So yes people would have high paying job which in return would invest in a home.

Yes but how much would it cost to use this train monthly? How much would it burden there paycheck and decrease what would go to housing? This is a nice “opinion” but it really doesn’t follow through with the giving details on any cost. There is no details just an idea...idk

The cost of bus, train, or plane are they expensive? The interstate high created a middle class. Beside who said it was mandatory that you take a high speed train.

The point is, by create a high speed railroad would uplift so many people in every state into the middle class which in those same people I believe in return would be able 2 afford to buy a house.

Without a detail plan of how this would be implemented, with cost on creation, building, maintaining and such it is really not much of a plan. It’s a thought. Not one I don’t disagree with but it needs more info on implementation and cost, viability throughout the county 1/

While I support HS trains, we’re going to have to make tough choices in order to lay those tracks. We cannot make the mistakes of the past when we build new infrastructure; heaving the burden of displacement and isolation on the poor while denying them access to new transit

I’m thinking about how highways were used to enforce redlining.

Only thing he leave off is 500k Mexican once a year working towards citizenship doing cheap labor for 5-7yrs so we can tax them and extend program that benefits teachers like SNAP BENEFITS. Now America produces goods again. Which in return allow us the capital (surplus) for.....

Universal Health insurance. So for those who want a border, the first thing that must happen is our federal government must legalize marijuana and create a system for Mexican that pay them cheap labor in return for them, working to become citizens so it pay 4 itself

Only if they are reasonably priced (and/or subsidized by companies who need workers from afar), and only if they go to all the modestly priced bedroom communities this suggests.

This is the weirdest opinion regarding the housing crisis I have ever seen. Nothing in this opinion regarding cost of said trains, nor how the probable high cost would impact how much an individual could afford for housing...am I missing something from the article?

If we could get high speed trains to run from state to state it would also solve the monopoly airlines have on travelling today.
