Let's also not forget how hard the path is to get from the House of Representatives to the White House. Democrats need to elect more governors and lock down more state legislatures, otherwise, having a Democratic president is for naught.
No Governors are really even in the running for POTUS. That's old school.

Yet. Be patient. There's a reason why Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and Bush 43 all won. Executive office experience is easier to sell than a long record of legislative votes (which can come back and bite you in the ass). After 2020, get ready for Gavin Newsome for that reason.

I understand you point. However, Governors have extreme political influence especially when it comes to an election. IMO, they’ll never be old school unless as the Electoral College exists. Bigger than what we know
