Saying it has gotten worse is simply a lie. It has increased less than for the rich. That’s different than it being worse. Having a cell phone, car, flat screen tv, air conditioning because of the innovations of rich people is something you should be thankful for not crying about

This distinction is actually important because the GOP stays in power largely by lumping the top .01% in with the rest of the top 1% and courting favor and support via that group. Working people in the top 1% pay a disproportionate amount of taxes, while .01% get an easy ride.

Wealth grows exponentially due to compounding interest. Even with higher wages, their wealth would still grow: it's not a zero sum game. You also fail to account for the abandonment of the Gold Standard in the 70s, increasing money supply.

But of course it's gotten worse. Wealth is relative and if everybody had it, then nobody would. For that reason alone, those at the top will always make sure they remain there.
