That presupposes that populism is a good thing. For black folks, populism has never worked out in our favor.

Toward the end of his life, MLK became an economic populist. He understood that poverty was a tool of racism, but further, a tool of oppression and power over all people of the world.

So proud of Barack Obama. You can tell it’s hard for him to say. You can feel there are pressures on him not to say it. But he says it, and that takes courage. This is the real-deal Obama here.

That argument is open for interpretation and incomplete. Nothing in the piece talked about "working people and labor issues" more specifically Obama's point had more to do with the social evolution of the term populist and whether Trump was a true populist compared to Bernie.

If he wins nomination I would vote for him but at 80 years old no matter the ideals it's not totally comforting to me. Also, it's not what most of us already decided on no Trump but the people in the middle that are a question. I think most prefer extreme right than left

Bernie has been in Congress for nearly 30 years with no significant accomplishments. It’s time for new, more inspiring voices who will reach broad swaths of Americans. That’s not Bernie. If he turns off progressives like me, he’s turning off many other voters
