After Columbine, a swarm of media was camped out for weeks. Now there's barely any coverage before it's on to the next tragedy. We don't know how to handle death in our country, & especially not how to prevent violent, unnecessary death.

As a person who migrated from a drug cartel ridden area, I’m so scared right now. My favorite thing about the US was the safety I felt walking and just being and now it seems there’s a mass shooting every day. I work on a college campus and this is always on my mind.

Watching from Europe speechless. There was a time when a mass shooting was on our prime time news. Not anymore, we can't catch up and we don't understand why the US is so in love with guns.
-
We allowed money to take hold and shape political policy. It's less that Americans love guns and more that our political system is broken and power can only be bought at this point.

We just can’t seem to say no to guns, even after small children in Sandy Hook were slaughtered. There is no hope for this country.
-
That was the moment of no return, if that didn't wake the conscience of the nation then nothing will. a red line was crossed and no one batted an eye lid, sad to see the downward spiral continue.
-
No one batted an eye? Seems to me half the country were outraged and demanded change, while conservatives said “Thoughts and prayers, but I’m not giving up this NRA money”.
-
Outrage, thoughts and prayers were fleeting and lasting action was never on the agenda of those who can make a difference. The outcry and anger at each new decreases everyone to a point where it won't even make front page news soon.

What's worse is the fact that I heard on CBS news that this was the 39th mass shooting of 2019! This is the real crisis!

No I am not numb. I bear witness to the pain even though I don’t know how much more I can take.

I'm not sure it's an issue of not caring. It's the inability to keep caring so much, and seeing nothing change.

What could have changed? It was a convicted felon with a gun. Which he had illegally.
