It is called compromise. In this political climate, we have to take one step at a time.

That’s how we ended up with this mess in the first place No more settling

Also if we’re picking an age group, why don’t we say Medicare from birth to 25? Let’s make sure our kids are healthy first

Most family units are under 50, right? Asking for a few hundred million friends.

They want to use this to say that M4A won't work when the insurance companies jack up prices and blame the increases in Medicare participation. Transparent tactic.

I read the original intent of Medicare was for the old and young and over the years they’d eventually meet in the middle but the Medicare for kids never happened

My husband and I are in our 50's (nonsmokers) we pay about $1600 for the two of us, and another $500 for our 3 kids. It is like having a second mortgage, but I cannot afford to lose my home to medical bills.

So they feel comfortable using similar terminology, just not the actual policy? BS

If they were in the majority, maybe this would be dumb. But as it stands now, it’s a good step.
-
That just makes it twice as dumb. It still has zero chance of passing but also alienates voters that they need to get that majority to begin with.
-
I disagree, it’s a reasonable offer and gop would be smart to accept it and pass it. If it were to get passed it wouldn’t be long until it became Medicare for all. People who feel alienated by it are gonna feel alienated by any legislation they don’t deem as perfect.
-
Mitch McConnel filibustered his own bill because Obama supported it. The GOP is never going to pass this or any other diet medicare or medicare lite bill proposed by Democrats. It serves zero purpose except messaging to potential voters and donors.
