The United States has never properly addressed, accounted for, and pivoted away from its racism. When you dig beneath the surface, or even just scratch it a little, looking through yearbooks, searching old tweets, it always gets exposed.

Every kitten was equally cute, cuddly, and loveable. So my mother said, it’s the same with humans. We love them all the same, no matter what color, just like the kittens. It made perfect sense, and it always stuck.
Cute story. The reality is that black cats are more likely to be euthanized at shelters because the don't get adopted as often.
Well, I guess the story works for people, and cats. And I had a beautiful, adopted black cat, with velvet fur. I miss her so much.
