If you were staring at the suffering of the victims of many of these criminals, I wonder how loud you'd be? I can almost hear the echoes of "there's a special place in hell" for the likes of ??? Extreme LEFT & extreme RIGHT is NOT the answer. Don't just react to shit.

Innocent until proven guilty. America has the 8th Amendment, it should be honored as much as the 2nd.

Just because they are in prison doesn’t mean they need to be treated inhumanly.

Certainly it is hard for a victim, and on behalf of one, to treat with compassion those we feel have harmed us. But that is the value of the Constitution. Our Constitution demands humane treatment because of the values we hold as a country, or at least strive to.

Exactly. Of course, as a victim I can long for revenge, but as a human part of human society I am glad we collectively have decided to rise above that. It gives room and time to stop the cycles of violence. Now if only the State would respect human rights...

Lots of elderly folk go cold because they cannot afford to heat their homes....... I’m all for human rights, but I know which one I’d rather help.

Don't impose your morality on others such that people who make mistakes aren't worthy enough to not freeze to death. Also, some are still awaiting trial and not convicted but are not weathy enough to post bail or were put there by a corrupt, unfair, and racist system.

I have a young relative who is in jail because he is mentally ill and awaiting trial for making threats. He makes the rounds between hospitals and jails, with no one really helping him. It is freezing in Toronto right now, and I'd hate to think of him in a facility with no heat.

That is so sad is there no facility to treat him as a patient not a criminal?
