Can we at least call it a start?
-
The fact that in 2019, this would be considered "a start", is tragic.

Sickening-completely wrong. We are not helping our fellow citizens who are targeted this way by staying quiet about it. Another cop let off the hook for murdering a person of color-when will they come for us white folks?-it’s only a matter of time

I'm sickened by this, the judge and especially Van Dyke's wife's statements in court today.https://twitter.com/LiberalHDWoman/status/1086417674782076928?s=19 …

Less than nothing. It's a slap in the face to every Chicagoan. The Judge also made Van Dyke eligible for day for day credit, which is not always granted in cases of violence. All in, he's going to do about three years for executing a man in front of 20 policemen. Shame.

Early release for good behavior, I’ll give him 8-9 months he’ll be out.

3.5 years assuming he keeps his nose clean. Could have got him for aggravated battery with a firearm which would have made him sit for 85% of sentence.
-
He would have served 4.5 yrs if for just one bullet.

That’s what I thought too. Guilty of 17 total counts. That’s 4 3/4 months per charge. And don’t get me started on Van Hyde’s family’s comments.

That judge needs to be voted out in the next election.
-
Judges get their job for life unless they show a pattern of unprecedented, unethical work and their colleagues go to the bar on them, which hardly ever happens, bc if the bar doesnt take their job-everyone who tried to tell, will be out of one.
-
You sound confused. Having a county seat is completely separate from being classified as a judge. Elections determine if a judge can oversee court cases in any county.
