i don't really get this. I'm a furloughed fed and we still have our health insurance. Do these people not have insurance? Or a plan with a super high deductible that just reset?
Federal employees are literally reporting that they cannot afford essential prescription medications. Like insulin. Life or death stuff. PBS just reported a woman who postponed an essential surgery. This is shameful. Just shameful. Trump has no shame though.

Out of pocket expenses w/ no paycheck in sight may have many hesitant. I'm fed too & have BlueCross/Shield, had a procedure over summer- insurance covered 90% I had to pay 10% procedure was 50k - do the math. Don't assume everyone has same circumstances

We have BCBS fed too and same goes for us - can’t afford the co-insurance fee right now.

I'm assuming that without paychecks, we aren't contributing to our flex spending either? that would offset the out of pocket expenses.

Even if they did it doesnt help these workers. But i do agree with you. I also think its insane that our gov has the authority to play chicken with other people’s lives!

.... You are ignoring the fact that alot of these people are also working WORKING AS IN THIS IS THEIR JOB do you work without pay? No if you are told you aren't going to get paid you'd raise hell about it or find another job but oh wait that is easier said then done

The medication problem is not a shutdown problem; it is a healthcare problem and indicative that we don’t care about people’s well-being whether there is a shutdown underway or not.
