why dont progressives just split from democrats and create your own party? clearly you cant compromise ideas with democrats or republicans. so do you on your own, spread your message and see if it is effective at winning progressives power

It's more effective to take over. If they ran as third party it would just split the vote on the left and swing the country further right. Primaries exist so you can change the direction of a party
ROFL, the DNC primaries? You gotta be kidding.. The DNC openly says they will nominate who they want, and running a fair primary is not their top concern..
AOC got in by the primary process
Only because the establishment wasn't paying attention and got surprised. She got what, 15k votes in a primary with over 250k Dem voters, with an incumbent too complacent to even campaign. The DNC said in court they can simply decide a nominee in a backroom regardless of primary.
