@realDonaldTrump plans to lose. He has already failed. The “emergency” is his emergency exit out of this ridiculous Wall he never really planned to build. He knows it...this will be his excuse.#resignTrump and take#MitchShutdown with you. -
Exactly! That's his only way out without looking like he gave in. Declare state of emergency, govt opens, it goes to court and he loses. Boom govt is open and he goes on a rally and tells his base 'obama appointed judges' don't want border control.

He’ll lose in court, but I fear it will let him save face and get out of this with an appearance to his base that he’s still “fighting” or whatever

-
And in the time between the declaration and losing in court, he basically has free reign. Absolutely horrifying.

Calling a
#NationalEmergency when there is no national emergency is contestable by Congress if not in a court of law. Calling a national emergency to shape the political landscape for personal preference or gains should be illegal.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

If Republicans argue that he can, it would mean that a (Democratic) president could do so for a real evidence-supported emergency, like climate change, right?

Or gun control

The only national emergency is his presidency.

And, he's calling for a "solution" that will take years if not decades, to complete. Some emergency response...

Trump doesn't understand how democracy works. That's one thing he's consistent about. He's willing to hold 800k people's jobs and livelihoods hostage for something we DON'T need!
-
It's called dictatorship
-
I completely agree, he's had that mentality since day one.
-
This is a critical point. I don't have a degree in history but democracy in the States is clearly teeter tottering.

And he would be stealing money from hurricane recovery...which have all occurred in 2016 red states...brilliant. NC will not be happy.

This is another attempt to distract us from his Investigation. He does not want a Border wall. If he wanted one, he would've gotten it the last 2 years, when he had the entire House and Senate.

I hope you’re right, but the SCOTUS tends to give the President broad powers when it comes to national security

-
Especially with a 5-4 court
