My brother, a furloughed government worker with a wife and 2 kids in college, literally had a heart attack from the stress over the weekend and is in the hospital as we speak. Telling these folks to have a garage sale is absolutely, shamefully insulting.
Our federal government is actually advising employees to have garage sales and babysit to make up for the fact that they won't be paid tomorrow because of the Trump Shutdown.

Move somewhere warm and have a garage sale, then, I guess? Figure rent is, and this is low, $1000. Even in an ideal situation, no sale is getting anywhere near that.

My gf makes $15-20 per visit/dog walk and only has a couple of clients in our area. She NEEDS another job because it certainly doesn’t cover many, if any, of her bills. How out of touch is this administration?!!!

So sorry for all my fellow Americans this shut down is hurting. I was just wondering; are they allowed to seek employment at temp agencies? Most of them hire within a day or 2; (some, on the spot). They pay weekly and some even pay daily.

Many of them are still required to show up for work everyday, making it impossible to take on a temp assignment.

Exactly, my husband was told if you find a job, you still have to report for 5 hours each day. It’s over a hour of commuting each way. Coast Guard Families will never forget this!
