The assumption is that the landlord can afford the mortgage payment without the rent. Is this going to also prevent the bank from foreclosing on the landlord?

Seems like the GOP had a meeting and declared Pelosi to be the new Obama and she won't finish her first term!

Not well thought out - what's important is having an emergency fund

Will they also pass a bill to protect landlords from their creditors?

Great idea Brian. But I would hope that all businesses will show compassion to federal employees during this shutdown.

How'd that protest go after you found out it wasn't a white man who shot little Jazmine Barnes? And, if what I just asked you were reversed, you'd be all over it like
@BillClinton &@HillaryClinton were on Haiti.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

This is stupid. What about owners of one home. We have no right to tell them not to get paid. 18 days is one pay period. Where's the emergency fund. That's what they are for.

Democratic landlords might not be on board with this one

@brianschatz how is this fair to landlords though? Lets say I own a rental home, on a tight budget...now because of a law I have to pay my mortgage payment and everything else I needed to do without receiving rent? I get what you are trying to do but this is not the right answer -
Yeah this is a bad idea, I haven’t seen a good answer to your question yet and alot of ppl have asked

It is simply government overreach here. Perhaps have a fund for those employees, but it is not right to protect the govt employee & then have it affect me, my family, my credit...to many jump to a solution for things like this without really thinking of the consequences to others
