Examine Beto's record, Bernie's record, Kamala's record, Biden's record.
Doing that alone is not an attack. It isn't.
But the process can be weaponized & politicized in a way that can be problematic.

Ya. Bernie ppl painting a picture of Beto as an energy industry sell-out based on the employment info of his small-dollar individual donors. It’s misleading. And Beto hasn’t even announced his candidacy.

And it seems to be exclusively Bernie ppl. No one else seems to be going after potential candidates at this point. It’s extremely off putting. Bernie is already seen as divisive and this does NOT help his cause.

The process can be politicized? Are you joking? We're literally looking at someone's record as a politician and the policy stances they've taken and supported. It is, by definition, political. That's the point.

Can you give an example of any standard by which someone would judge whether a criticism crosses that line? because as stated this could apply to anything, ie. used by bad faith actors to shut down any legitimate criticism

If there's no standard by which we can judge a criticism as legitimate, you could use that to shut down any criticism from anyone. This seems like one of the worst things from 2016 to bring back

Progressives (myself included) are having a hard time with Beto because he was crowned a progressive by the media early on when it turns out his voting records and donor list shows he’s far from it. It’s infuriating that the media is trying to push this on us.

We want nothing more than for the media to offer fair and balanced criticism of all the candidates. I haven’t written off anyone but when the media is creating this false narrative, the people deserve to know the truth.

Yes. There are impartial ways of examining record which highlight the areas where Beto is more progressive than other House Dems, more average, and less progressive. Then there's the "make a generalization and point out only votes that support the generalization" hatchet job.

The process can be politicized? Sure it can, it's definitely not as neat, clean & 'unpoliticized' as a simple 'bought & paid for' process! Bring on the 'politicization'! But might I suggest 'politicization' seems a rather longer and a bit more difficult way to spell 'democracy'.
