1. I’m a Bernie guy - an alum of his campaign. I’m a fellow at the Sanders Institute. He’s my hero. Attacking Beto is counterproductive. Examine Beto’s record, that’s fine, but that goes both ways. EVERY candidate will have had bad votes, including Bernie.

advising progressives to hold their tongues and allow the establishment to launch their fake election narratives unchallenged is spectacularly naive, shaun accepting the disengenous centrist framing that airing o'rourke's record is an "attack" is also a very stupid thing to do
-
whether or not candidates have announced yet literally does not matter, the 2020 cycle has already begun the groundswell of support around o'rourke is entirely due to people having the false impression that he's a progressive and bursting that bubble right now is necessary
-
perhaps you don't understand the nature or importance of this primary fight this is an ideological battle over the future of the party and the future of politics, we can't afford to pull our punches

How is this full attack mode versus a response to what is being shoved on people as Beto as a front runner? These people put themselves in the public sphere and those around them are openly courting their ascension to the highest office in the country. We shouldn't wait.
-
It doesn't do Bernie harm to address problems with other candidates. Those around the Senator hoping he runs need to make sure he has a better campaign plan and different campaign leadership and a real understanding of the lessons post 2016. This ain't it.
-
You can't run a revolution or build an insurgency worried about what dishonest corporatist have to say. Folks launched a draft campaign. This cycle is starting soon. Political discourse is necessary and doesn't stop because he is on a Rachel/Ross style break with politics.

Examining a voting record and where someone gets money from is not attacking them. It is what you should expect when you run for office. If he was a R you would have no problem with it dude. A letter next to a name means shit. Actions mean everything.
-
TY Mike. This overriding desire to remove a certain person from office (while understandable) is causing a great many to forego intellectual consistency. If we’re not careful, we run the risk of becoming just like those who are propping up & defending this particular individual.

This is what's coming. Are you prepared to do battle or just more incrementalism? Do you think they'll play nice & be reasonable? Sanders' wing of the party terrifies moderate Dems. Here's how they plan to stop it.https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/sanders-wing-party-terrifies-moderate-dems-here-s-how-they-n893381 …

these third way types are wrong on so many levels, it's going to take an entire thread to knock it down... i'm only half way thru the NBC piece and i've already found half a dozen mistakes of judgement on their part. they are pathetically ill informed.... money insulates

Same here. I just called out Shaun for buying into the 3rd Way, neoliberal, propaganda and using their language when calling the voting record vetting of 3rd Way Beto full attack mode. It's lazy journalism.

What turns off voters is telling them they’re not supposed to participate in their democracy, Shaun.

I would do that but I cannot stand it and I cannot sit back and shut up when I hear attacks on Bernie because of age. I see what they’re doing they’re planting the age thing way ahead of time in peoples minds. The brainwashing has started already.
-
Yeah, but it's not as if the age issue is some made-up thing. There are legitimate questions about anyone that old running for President. I have the same issue w other candidates like Biden. I'm an old guy & age is an issue. Maybe it's not the over-riding one, but it matters
