1. I’m a Bernie guy - an alum of his campaign. I’m a fellow at the Sanders Institute. He’s my hero. Attacking Beto is counterproductive. Examine Beto’s record, that’s fine, but that goes both ways. EVERY candidate will have had bad votes, including Bernie.

4. Beto took these past few weeks off to be with his family. He’s made that very clear. He deserved that space. He campaigned his ass off for two straight years. He appears to have even asked his team to just stand down and not even respond to the attacks.

5. If you see yourself as a Bernie supporter, as do I, I’m telling you now that you are doing Bernie harm if you go in full attack mode against Beto or other candidates before they even announce. It turns off potential voters and partners. I see it happening. //End of Thread

Counterpoint: this primary is going to be extremely important and picking a bad nominee will have enormous human consequences. Assay them like ore in a furnace.

We are criticizing people who are painting a dishonest picture of who Beto is. He is not a progressive by his own words and deeds. So people who pitch him as a progressive with progressive values need to be corrected I am not allowing the false narrative to develop before hand

Exactly what the Bernie supporters did with Hillary. Exactly why Bernie should stand down.

I can’t take the pearl clutching. We’re going to have a contested primary with a big field just like ‘08. The campaign may get acrimonious like ‘08. That’s okay! You’re not giving the left enough credit here—once there’s a nominee we’ll rally around that person.

What about this from this past summer then
@shaunking ? When you talk about “tearing each other apart” you should focus on the centrists. Progressives ask questions to hold those in power accountable. Centrists promote conspiracy theories for fear of losing that power.pic.twitter.com/U1p5XfWxZc

It appears the Russians, Saudis, Turks and Chinese will be instigating enough charged emotional scatter-shot interference for multiple elections just in 2020. I have primary favs, nevertheless, I will support the next Democratic Party nominee with my sweat and time and money.

The only realistic alternative to any of these possible Dem candidates is an immoral, intolerant Repugnant-can. And don’t tell me about “good Republicans.” Anyone who is “good” wouldn’t still be a member of today’s GOP.

Has nothing to do with being flawless. You are strawmanning. The problem has always been the weak ass response from the base when dealing with their pols. The difference between the GOP and Dem politicians is the GOP fear the base and Dems mock theirs. I am done with that.

We sure can, and we will. What are valid critiques you call attacks. Beto's voting record with Repubs is twice what it statistically should be, he voted to export petrochemicals while rallying for climate protections. He's great for TX dems, but not Nat'l dems. We can do better.
