1. I’m a Bernie guy - an alum of his campaign. I’m a fellow at the Sanders Institute. He’s my hero. Attacking Beto is counterproductive. Examine Beto’s record, that’s fine, but that goes both ways. EVERY candidate will have had bad votes, including Bernie.

3. We can critique records, we can ask questions, and can do so publicly, but when it bleeds over into demonization or destructive conversation, you are doing more harm than good. None of these candidates will be flawless. None of them. We can’t tear each other apart. Can’t.

4. Beto took these past few weeks off to be with his family. He’s made that very clear. He deserved that space. He campaigned his ass off for two straight years. He appears to have even asked his team to just stand down and not even respond to the attacks.

5. If you see yourself as a Bernie supporter, as do I, I’m telling you now that you are doing Bernie harm if you go in full attack mode against Beto or other candidates before they even announce. It turns off potential voters and partners. I see it happening. //End of Thread

What does it mean to have "bad votes" to you? To me it refers to one thing only - are these votes helping or making life more difficult, even deadly to regular people. Bernie's score is almost perfect. Beto, on the other hand, doesn't even SELF-IDENTIFY as a progressive.

Beto just so happens to have many more bad votes than Bernie. His voting record, as with all officials, proves his true values. Bernie’s record for the most part vindicates and elevates him, while Beto’s record has proven very problematic.

I'm fascinated by the phenomenon of certain pols' being called by their first names ("Hillary," "Bernie," "Beto") while others get the traditional last-name treatment ("Biden," "Booker"). TBH, the first sounds super-fake to me, and I don't like it. We're not that close.

Just curious why you use last names for the men and not for Kamala Harris?
-
Beto and Bernie are first names too?
