One of the key questions determining how one thinks of US politics is rarely discussed: is Trump a main cause of US pathologies (so that removing him restores US politics to its prior healthy status) or merely a symptom of systemic diseases (which thrive & grow without Trump)?

I’m convinced it has a lot to do with baby boomers, and one last final stand of that generation
-
I’m a boomer and he sure ain’t my last stand. He ain’t even my so-called POTUS

Everything you just described has been done by authoritarian leaders in Europe over the same timeframe. They and Trump have all taken advantage of people’s fears and frustrations- particularly those of older, whiter people

“Record setting dishonesty” is a very measured and succinct descriptor.

I agree, symptom and cause, and although removal is not curative, it does demonstrate a check on Trump admin (mis)(a)buse of power, necessary but not sufficient

I agree with
@shaunking. He’s the result of triangulation, tea party, corruption, etc., but he’s also the cause of dangerous bigots coming out of the woodwork and division like rarely before in modern times.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

He’s making everything worse, but a man like him can’t even touch politics in a properly functioning nation.

Please, when you claim Trump is "dishonest" be specific. What lies has he told and document your claim. And parroting Nancy Pelosi or any other liberal consumed with hatred for Trump doesn't constitution documentation.

This complaint about attacks on the media annoys me because the media thinks they are some special class but the rest of us can be slaughtered like animals.Obama killed a 14yr old American citizen nobody in the media cared. But we should give a shit when they are attacked.

I think he's a symptom primarily. Not like his positions are a big break from typical repubs and rightwing democrats. For example, look at how Hillary dogwhistled white nationalists in Europe, showing no compassion for immigrants. He's showing plutocrats just how far they can go.

By calling the media names? Our MSM is a mouthpiece for big corporations and government propaganda. Lots of people deservedly call them names. Obama's prosecution of leakers and whistleblowers via the Espionage Act was more disturbing. Wikileaks, we SHOULD know TVs can spy on us.pic.twitter.com/MyPAwVJT6T
