One of the key questions determining how one thinks of US politics is rarely discussed: is Trump a main cause of US pathologies (so that removing him restores US politics to its prior healthy status) or merely a symptom of systemic diseases (which thrive & grow without Trump)?
That could be, but most of the evils people attribute to Trump - and most of the dynamics that led to his empowerment - are growing and thriving in many other democracies throughout the world that have little to nothing to do with Trump.
Oh I understand. That's why I say that Donald Trump is very much a symptom world trends. However, he digs in and doubles down in many very disturbing ways - with record setting dishonesty for instance - and attacks on the media - that also make him a cause as well.
