Until Gillum proves he will fight for medicare for all, tuition free college, tax increase and loophole closure for the rich, the end of our dealing with saudis, & fight to get big $ out of politics, thats gonna be a big no for me. Abrams tho, absolutely.

It’s okay not to love Beto :). He needs to stay and grow TX. We don’t need a centrist President.
-
Centrist are necessary in the general.
-
Are they? Or are centrists one of the reasons that 46.9% of registered voters didn't vote? Perhaps it's time that the people are offered a progressive alternative.
-
You're assuming that the non-voters are nearly all progressives that sat on the sidelines waiting for their time.
-
No, I'm not assuming anything. I'm merely pointing out the fact that we've had plenty of centrist candidates in the past. Voting has remained largely the same. I'm saying that it's silly to do the same and expect something different. Offer the people progress... see what happens.
-
We've had shitty candidates lately, maybe that's the issue more than how progressive they are? I'm progressive, but I'm also aware most people aren't. The country leans left in general, but only slightly left and depending how the issue is framed.
-
Perspective is, as indicated with your mention of framing, key. Medicare for all was considered all but the most absurdly progressive idea in 2016. Queue 2018 and it now has ~70% support (non-political). Most of the country is progressive - they just don't know it yet.

My two cents as a Texas Progressive Liberal, RUN A HISPANIC CANDIDATE! Julian Castro is a prime pick especially as a VP. I personally think Texas could flip with a Beto/Castro ticket. Latinos are the sleeping giant of the Dem party, let’s give them something to vote FOR!
-
Latino men are a problem in Texas. They think they're a part of the group if they vote red. 40% of Latino men voted for Cruz. Too many Toms.
-
I always thought this was the case ( the whole sleeping giant bit) but truth is you're absolutely right. And not just in Texas- It's sad.

With all due respect, Beto is so far, the best option. The most marketable one. Ms Abrams and Mr Gillum can be strong reps in the cabinet. Again, respectfully from a Canadian who really, really want the Dems to win!
-
Ummmm.... and as a Canadian, you are able to vote for whom in the 2020 election??

-
She’s welcome to give her thoughts, Canadians are affected by our President as is evident by this one. They’ve also been generous friends during this embarrassing time.
-
Merci

-
And thank you and all your countrywomen for being patient as we get through this time!

I think Andrew n Stacey r GREAT n I had the privilege of supporting Stacey via my vote twice, but it isn’t their time ..... YET. Stacey has taken on a huge project here in Georgia to ensure all votes are counted. She will make a difference in all roles leading to her Presidency!
-
Stacey winning Perdue's Senate seat in 2020 is achievable. I loved having my vote count in Georgia for the first time in a while.
-
As opposed to it being Betos time? Abrams is far better educated and smarter. I think it’s Beto that needs time. He’s great at campaigning but I want someone super smart who can clean up the mess after 45.
-
No knowledge 'who's smarter' but isn't a huge factor 4 ME. Wht I DO knw is widespread acceptance of Beto n his ability to inspire n motivate. The fact tht he is GREAT at campaigning is a huge dominating factor in securing votes. THAT matters. He can bring in the 'smart' ppl.
-
I’m referring to her far better education and how she comes across. Given he’s from a wealthy well connected family-more impressed/ inspired by her. He’s pretty great but some of it is media hype. W/her it’s all about policy not superficial stuff like a media friendly personality.
-
Yeah I hv not idea abt his wealth so no impact on ME. I am 100% behind Abrams, hence she got my support n votes. But I think she'd be more impactful in roles/movements effecting change (policy) where it really matters. But I disagree, friendly personality is HUGE for Presidency.
-
His wealth/connections helped him advance-you said inspirational.Privilege isn’t inspirational to me. Fed up w/ wealthy white men pushed to the http://front.Re SA:no bigger job than pres if you want to impact change, she fights for the ppl,has vision & an excellent speaker
-
I DO know Abrams is not wealthy n tht works for me too. As Pres, hands r tied n only signs bills. It's lower politicians tht actually affect change.
@staceyabrams is GREAT at tht as u mentioned (policy). At THIS time, she is most valuable n effective in a policy changing role. - 3 more replies
