I find it very telling that they can discipline black kids for supporting the Anthem protest, but all of sudden it is a free speech issue for racist white kids

Oh how differently it would be if black kids had the fist up in the air.

Suddenly the fact that they are on school grounds making a “political” statement would become relevant. The school board would actually work to find a way to punish the students instead of looking for ways to dismiss it.

Just send the picture to every college they apply to. Free speech right?

Problem is most of the Ivy leagues are supported by such ingrained racism

A Nazi salute can be considered free speech/free expression, but a girl wears a spaghetti strap tank top to school and suddenly her free expression is disruptive and a distraction. So selective.

School districts limit the first amendment in a huge way everywhere. In this instance, it’s clear they’re protecting the “futures” of the ever protected white male. It’s beyond disgraceful. I’m sure this same district sends kids home due to hairstyles and dress no problem.

These will soon be old men in Congress and our children and grandchildren will have to fight for rights... Just like we are trying to do now. Smh... Never ending cycle.

Pretty much like what's going on right now

Exactly what's going on now! Right

We do. The court may not be able to punish these kids, but the school can. Other things that students get punished for and not protected under free speech: - Social Media harassment - Cursing - Verbally assaulting a classmate or teacher - Inappropriate comments - Gang signs

This is BS!! Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier. Established a lower level for freedom of speech when that speech occurs within a school setting - not intended for general public expression. The prom is a school setting, you cannot do or say whatever you want there.

Name them and shame them. Send to every college and university. Let no one forget their names, like Brock Turner.
-
Best way to deal with it is not give them a platform. Ignore them.
-
I disagree. Sunlight is the best disinfectant for people like this.

The school's handbook includes provisions governing behavior at dances as well as out of school conduct which some of these boys may have violated https://docs.google.com/document/d/15X2P10OvIWWyolM_432gNhy0hDiUOY4LaKSzbc5QG_A/edit?usp=sharing …
