I respect Pelosi & Schumer, but I don’t know much longer they expect every essential leadership position in the House & Senate to be held by white men and women. These aren’t lifetime appointments. They just aren’t. It’s the elephant in the room right now.

In the entire history of the Democratic Party, not a single Black woman has held a leadership position in the House (Speaker, Majority Leader, Whip, etc). Steny Hoyer should’ve stepped aside gracefully. But what I know is we must always fight for whatever power we have. Always.

Um, Clyburn had held one of those jobs as long as Nancy has. They should get Karen Bass and Barbara Lee up there too.
-
No, he hasn’t. That’s not one of the top positions. I mean the top 2 in the House and Top 2 in the Senate.

How about we judge them by the content of their character, rather than their skin color? Wasn’t that MLK Jr.’s dream?
-
Dude, if that was truly the case, then you wouldn't have the issue Shaun is pointing out. Don't twist MLK's words to defend what he was actually fighting against.

I think you should check your math. POC are not the Majority of the Dem Base. Its not possible, especially if black ppl only are~17% & Latinx ~18% total pop. However, it could be argued that the majority of POC vote Democratic.
#FactsMatter -
Regardless the party still needs to own it and stop trying NOT to be the party of POC. In doing this, they continue to take brown/black votes for granted especially black women.
-
True! Relationships are bilateral. POC have to make demands. We must teach ppl how to treat us and there must be consequences (like primarying some of those old heads). I think they are getting the message or at least, we have their attention. The voting rights act has to be #1

Right now @NancyPelosi needs to be Speaker. She’s a proven leader, she’s smart and tough. She’s more than earned her place. Yes, more diversity is needed, but this is not a time to experiment.
-
Nancy Pelosi is a corrupt failure. Her major attribute is collecting more more corporate money than anyone and doing their bidding. It is not an "experiment" to get rid of her and putting up a more progressive leader than her. Who you ask? Sadly, almost any Democrat would do.
-
Hopefully Barbara Lee.

Good grief, look at who Ds elect. It’s a rainbow. Stop looking for ways to make us fight. As a D I’m more interested in ability. With that being said, Schumer should not be the leader. I want someone smarter & stronger & I’ll take them in whatever packaging they come in.

There's 14,000 kids in detention camps, 3k Puerto Ricans dead, a journalist murdered, 1000 people missing, genocide. I want the f*cking Terminator. F*ck civility! F*ck corporate sponsors! People are dying, we don't have time for wimps. That's the person I want.pic.twitter.com/3IEcFiE4s2

I don't know if Schumer or Pelosi get the urgency. We need someone who does get it. Someone who is willing to eviscerate the right and let us progress.

Can we replace Schumer yesterday? Fairly sure you won’t get a lot of arguments on that.
-
You would from the don’t rock the boat Dems and those that want a “United” party
