  6. In the end, I won't be throwing @VanJones68 away. I regret his words, and believe they were problematic. He made a mistake. Ultimately, I will use my energy to get back into the fight for serious criminal justice reforms. I'd give this new bill a C-/D+. It needs real work.

  The people you note are necessary, negotiating with evil people on behalf of the oppressed, do the oppressed no favors by making validation of the evildoers part of the bargain. It may seem like it has no cost, to “be nice”; it does. I hope Van gets that now.

  Even if you don't see Trump as a uniter, you know he's a man with a massive ego. You stroke that ego with praise a bit more lavish than he deserves and he'll be a lot easier to work with in the future. The left will pick up on this in the new Congress I'm sure.

  I think (hope) @VanJones68 knows that about Trump. He also knows Trump is blinded by his big ass ego and (in my mind anyway) Van is just trying to play Trump until Trump sees this through fully. Trump is unsurprisingly easy to manipulate & Van must think for this it’s worth it
