The rush to paint good men and women who speak out on the human rights violations of Israel as anti-Semitic is disturbing. No nation is beyond legitimate criticism. Snipers there have killed unarmed kids and nurses this year. That’s wrong. Bottom line. And we must say so.
I am a student of the Civil Rights Movement. Mentored by its leaders. I support boycotts as a peaceful form of non-violent resistance. When I say I support boycotts of Israel because of their human rights violations, I do so as a man peace. I say the same for Saudi Arabia.
Do you also boycott Russia and China due to their human rights violations (and US too I guess).

You can be nice an objective living a comfortable life in the USA , probably sitting in your armchair pontificating about israel. Israelis live in a bad neighbourhood where there’s no mercy for the weak! It’s easy to criticise, I’d like to see you in this situation!

Agreed. I am an Israeli American activist. I vote opposition for reasons of civil rights and rights. HOWEVER the #womensmarch anti-Semitism problem is not about Israel. 2 yrs of Farrakhan worship and distrustful rhetoric when they speak of their Jewish problem *is* anti-Semitic.
Shaun, it's confusing for far too many people. Not making the strong distinction between Israel the country/government and the Jewish people - as you have just taken the time to do - leaves my people vulnerable to further attacks. When speaking our against Israel, it is
imperative to make that distinction. To not do so is to continue to breathe life into anti-Semitism. It is irresponsible and doubly so when one has a stage.

Yes Boycotts work. We have the right to spend our money where we choose and I will use mine only to further peace and justice.
You like to fancy yourself a "modern day freedom rider" nothing can be further from the truth. No one today is facing the oppression and systemic racism of decades and centuries ago. Truth is you have to keep the outrage going because it's not a movement anymore but a business.
You should never allow anyone to force you to justify criticizing any nation state. After all, the same anti-Gentiles who try to demonize you for criticizing a foreign power, will criticize USA whenever they like.
