The rush to paint good men and women who speak out on the human rights violations of Israel as anti-Semitic is disturbing. No nation is beyond legitimate criticism. Snipers there have killed unarmed kids and nurses this year. That’s wrong. Bottom line. And we must say so.

I am a student of the Civil Rights Movement. Mentored by its leaders. I support boycotts as a peaceful form of non-violent resistance. When I say I support boycotts of Israel because of their human rights violations, I do so as a man peace. I say the same for Saudi Arabia.

As a Jewish American who has spent half his life in Israel and has family there, let me reassure you that speaking out against the draconian policies of Netanyahu is not at all anti-Semetic. It has nothing to do with being Jewish, and everything to do with a corrupt government.
-
He is a man that has learned all the worst lessons from Nazi oppression, to the point that Israel is becoming the very force that almost destroyed her people in the first place. There are still plenty of people w/i Israel that oppose him, but their voices are being drowned out.
-
No wonder he and 45 get along so well.
-
Israel committed plenty of atrocities against the Palestinians before Netanyahu. It didn't start with him, and I really doubt it will end with him.

You can even be pro-Israel and still be appalled at what is happening. They have no right to do what has been done to them for so long. More like a moral&historic imperative NOT to.
-
I agree. I'm not against Israel, I'm against right wing, abusive and racist policies. Whether they come from the UK, Italy, Israel, Australia, Saudia Arabia or whatnot.

It’s not anti-Semitic to speak out against the Isreali government. They are merely a government (an evil government at that), not a representation of the people and culture of the country.

It's an easy (and lazy) rhetorical attack to equate criticism of Israeli policy with anti-Semitism.
-
Unfortunately, laziness abounds.
-
It's also a pretty effective way of silencing genuine debate.
