Why is it that voter suppression only happens with Republicans? Why don’t voters see this & realize the party they’re voting for, the party that lies that it loves the Constitution, is trying to restrict any non-white voter from voting, thereby acting unconstitutionally. FFS
What would Democrats’ voter suppression even look like? Making the ballot font super small? It’s mighty hard to disenfranchise some of the most well off and connected citizens in your district
What it would look like: Polling station: Must have 1 black friend ready with you.
The Florida Dept of State, earlier this year, posted the timeline for reporting election results. It was established that all unofficial returns were to be submitted by tomorrow, Nov 10. Nothing has changed. Rick Scott knows this. Marco Rubio knows this. All political theatrepic.twitter.com/4wkRyadKge
MILITARY BALLOTS - let that sink in. How is it, that Republicans can call themselves pro-military? This isn't the first time military personnel have been dismissed by Trump's regime, either.
I'm assuming the military lean further to the right than the civilian population. Why would Republicans fear their votes?
Good q. I wonder if R's worried that despite military personnel typically leaning right, military not happy w Trump's unpredictability & carelessness. Also, GOP have seen how never-Trump Rs are (at least temporarily) leaving the party & voting Dem to put a check on Trump.
If democracy works, Republicans lose. So Republicans have to make sure that they can thwart democracy whenever and wherever they can. For them, the voting is theater, they want to control the election as a process to guarantee its outcomes.
I had a guy (a history teacher no less) boast "our country isn't a democracy it's a republic." As if he conflated democracy with Democrats. These people would happily disenfranchise themselves if it meant keeping their team in power indefinitely.
Yes, it was designed to be a republic. A constitutionally limited democratically elected republic in fact. Although, for the last 50 years it's been slipping into an authoritarian fascist oligarchy.
And Arizona. GOP lawsuit being argued today at 2 p.m.
Pretty sad when it's a radical act in the US to count all votes (though that's been going on forever, we're just shining a big ol' light on it now). To get this democracy to actually function as it should, people have to apply constant pressure.
@BrianKempGA and his team doesn’t want all votes counted because as he said himself “If every Democrat exercise their right to vote they will win”. Now his biggest fear may be coming true! He has quickly declared victory to suppress votes yet again.
