It will be interesting to see if they were armed. Most of my off duty police friends are armed. If so, the more guns needed narrative quickly crumbles... So sad.

True. They absolutely should not be armed if they are drinking. I live in a small north Georgia town, where off-duty LEOs frequently drink in 'the' local bar, and I remember, couple of years ago, a woman who worked for the sheriffs department, not even a deputy… >>>

Laughed as a friend brought her purse out to the patio, which she had left inside, and it made a loud thud as it hit the table. Somebody jokingly asked her if the safety was on. She pulled out a 9 mm pistol clicked the safety on, and said "it is now…" And they all laughed…

So, not only did she leave a loaded firearm unattended inside of a bar, in her purse, but the safety was not even on. Had someone knocked it off the table, it could've easily gone off, and shot someone in the leg, or worse.

I really don't think that's how guns work. But, leaving it unattended is not wise.

Depending on the sensitivity of the trigger, a gun could absolutely go off if dropped to the floor.

I know. It is horrible. My comment was a reflection on the NRA's Lapierre's saying that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. IMO more guns is not necessarily the guaranteed answer.
