Exactly. @MichaelAvenatti’s words NEED to be taken in context. Beyond that, Avenatti has been a consistent and strong ally of the left. Let us not forget that, lest we lose on the basis of disorganization... again.

In your first two lines you contradict yourself. When put in the context of his full statement there is no sensible way to conclude that what he said as racist, and in fact, in the context of his full statement, what he said could be seen as challenging racism present today.
Shaun, you pretty much did the same thing as CNN and others did. Picking one line from a paragraph and asking a Yes/No question IS picking it out of context. Michael did say that, but what else he said around it also matters.
As liberals, it is important to acknowledge uncomfortable politically incorrect facts. That the society values words coming out from a white male more than other humans is sad and uncomfortable, but STILL the truth.
We cannot attribute white men that get away with stuff compared to other humans to white privilege and at the same time pretend that privilege doesn't exist. It is called a privilege because more people listen and believe them than other humans. Sad, but true!

That he's willing to say "Well, this is how it's historically been done" tells me he's the last candidate we need to move forward. Sorry dude, not settling in you because white guys win. That's a terrible reason.
As others have said, context matters. It's like you stopped reading after you got mad. 
It's not that it's a good thing, but in the current climate, he's probably right.
he isn't saying that he hasn't said that he's saying that he has said MORE than that. I disagree but he isn't saying it from a racist standpoint.
