Wow! I can’t believe I kind of disagree with you. If you read everything Avenatti was saying in context I think he has a point. I’m not sure I agree with the idea that it HAS to be a white male but given the climate today I do think that his underlying point has merit.
2/ The nomination SHOULD go to the most qualified candidate. Period. Black. White. Male. Female. Transgendered. Whoever. BUT this crazy moment we are living in right now - especially after Trump - is so divided that some “so-called moderates” won’t even listen to reasonable
3/ rationale presentations if they are coming from people of color or women. All you have to look at is Florida and Georgia to see that. There is no way there should even be a possibility that Gillum or Abrams should have any possibility of anything but a landslide victory,
5/ Why do you think so many people rejected Obamacare under Obama but are now demanding it? Because many in this country are actual racists or racist-adjacent. So while I hope that Avenatti is wrong, I do not think he is racist/sexist for bringing that fact about this
6/ country to the forefront. There is something to be said for meeting people where they are and working from that point to move them forward. Yes, even the racists. Should we have to? No. Is it fair? No. But we might have to pull the con on them for a change.
7/ Just take the race thing out of the equation. As has been said before some of these racists are just going to have to die off from old age. We’re never going to change their minds. In the meantime just so we can get something done we need a candidate who will appeal to
8/ masses. And in America unfortunately a large part of that group just happen to be okay with racism. That’s why we have Trump. No, he didn’t win the popular vote but he did get a LOT of votes. Even WITH people knowing he is racist and misogynistic.
9/ That means there are a lot of people in this country who are okay with that. And that’s just the fact about where we are.
I agree that the quote “better be a white male” is wrong. However, take into account what he later said in regards to white males making their arguments: “should they carry more weight? Absolutely not. But do they? Yes.” Unfortunately this is true in the U.S., Shaun.

Avenatti has always been about "What ever it takes to remove 45". He made it clear that when he said the candidate should be a white male it was about strategy and not about right or wrong. Don't make this out to be something you know its not.
He’s not wrong though. You even provided the context, and still took the quote out of context.
Context is important. You know that as a Christian and as a writer. You took what he said out of context. Smh
Cmon Shaun, you totally took him out of context. And what is this source? Where's the audio of what he said? He literally said white men shouldn't be listened to more, but that is still the reality in the U.S. Hopefully we can all change that.
On the bright side, Avenatti just sealed his own fate as a 2020 candidate. He ain’t it.
