My armchair analysis. Police see white crime as an aberration, and black crime as "normative", but these groups also see police misconduct differently. White people rarely worry that police will wrongly arrest or harm them, while blacks think it's almost certain they will be.
What the study showed is ugly. It shows that not only do police shootings of unarmed Black folk not impact white mental health. As a white male with all the privilege that brings I personally feel the anguish and fear for my friends and brothers whose skin color does not provide them that security. I don't believe most white people are impacted by police shootings in the context of fear for own safety

which is a very sad statement. I think lots of white people have empathy and compassion for victims of police shootings but are not mentally impacted by the larger social framework. While these shootings shape generations of POC emotionally white ppl process as information.

it weighs heavy on my heart and soul. seeing white murders charged with out a scratch pisses me off. and seeing poc beat or killed for just being poc really fucks with me. this honky cares a lot. this honky takes a knee.
