More times than not, local TV stations, like @Fox4 in Dallas, have such close relationships w/ police departments that they function like police propaganda machines.
BREAKING: Since authorities searched the apartment of murder victim #BothamJean & released the results I just asked them for the results of the warrant of Amber Guyger's home -since she was the perpetrator.
Guess what they said?
IT DOES NOT EXIST.
They NEVER searched her home!

Muddy the water. A magic trick.
Oftentimes, when poc are victims, media outlets either post disparaging pictures from their past or search for anything that will cast them in a negative light. He is the victim. Even in death, he's still being victimized.
They couldn't find anything about him, so they magically "found" some marijuana. This is just a sick game to them.
Even if it was his, it doesn't matter. Seems like they're more interested in smearing him, in defense of the officer. Which like you said, is a sick game
