Here in New York, people don't openly talk much about 9/11. The pain is very real. When I worked at the Daily News, so many people in the newsroom either saw the devastation up close or even knew people who were killed on that horrible morning.
Every single day, my family and I walk or drive past multiple @FDNY stations that lost men on 9/11.
We are so humbled by the memorials for each of them.
A staggering 343 firefighters died that day. An unbelievable loss.
But complete silence for the NYPD?
Still have periods of PTS. My students saw EVERYTHING
The slogan "New York's Bravest" is true.
The reason most don’t wanna talk about it is to avoid facing the reality of the lie surrounding it. The same people that avoid talking about 9/11 will talk about a host of other historic tragedies.
I think there is an entire generation with PTSD from that day. I was a college student in Chicago when it happened and thought we were next. I still panic a little when I hear a plane fly through a downtown area.
You always take time to help others and point out heroes and you are doing this despite the health anxiety with you brother. You matter and thanks.
