I remember so much about 9/11, but was a college student @Morehouse living in Atlanta when it happened.
Living in New York has made the human consequences of it all so much more real for me. It was absolutely awful.
Please visit the 9/11 museum when you can. It's powerful.
Here in New York, people don't openly talk much about 9/11. The pain is very real. When I worked at the Daily News, so many people in the newsroom either saw the devastation up close or even knew people who were killed on that horrible morning.
Every single day, my family and I walk or drive past multiple @FDNY stations that lost men on 9/11.
We are so humbled by the memorials for each of them.
A staggering 343 firefighters died that day. An unbelievable loss.

Honestly I don't understand the popularity of the 911 memorial by tourists. It's still too much for me 17 years later.
Maybe you were too close to the devastation to really see how it’s effect was felt around the globe? It’s just empathy, there’s nothing wrong with that. They feel your pain. I know you don’t want the constant reminders. Peace.
No the pain is raw. I never knew grief until I was there when the last beam was pulled out. The howling of people was something I can never forget. (I gave up a job and went to NYC to help after 9/11...)
Y don't u say the police that ran in to pull out people of all color? Y do u lie? If u care about ur country & the people that died that day, why don't u join a civil entity that is sworn to protect our great nation against these enemies that hate our way of life and our freedom?
