It isn’t a right to play in the NFL. Talent is a must, but being a good teammate and not being a distraction is also important. All being equal or close, you pick the guy who isn’t going to bring off field issues.

The guy was ranked the 24th best strong safety in madden last year. The game is fairly accurate in regards to ranking people. So this would translate to barely be a passable starter on a few teams. Add in contract expectations due to his age and being a known quantity.

Nobody wants to pay millions for a backup, which he'd most likely be. It's worth signing anybody else to not have to answer Eric Reid questions every week. So either you are foolish or you are exaggerating this situation. Knowing your track record, I'm sure both apply.
