BREAKING: Crystal Mason was just sentenced to return to prison for VOTING in the 2016 election. Because she was a convicted felon, who served her time, the judge says she broke the law by voting. She used her actual ID, her real name, and simply voted. A grave injustice.pic.twitter.com/l5Yurhrp4n

You missed the point. Although in different states, one used her informant to vote, the other used false info twice. The point is black always seems to get tougher sentence than white for committing the same crimepic.twitter.com/t7bCE1I2IA

No Jackie it has to be from the same state, same judge, same arresting officers on the same day, during the same hour with the same bailiff before it could ever have anything to do with race....and even then you'll be told to get over it.....

Perhaps we should be looking more closely at that judge. This feels wrong, racist and politically motivated.

A convicted felon cannot vote while in jail or parole. Once they complete their jail term jail and/or parole, they have to re-register and are able to vote.

I agree that the sentence was way off base, and this is the issue that needs to be addressed. My response was regarding comments saying that she could not vote b/c she was a convicted felon, inferring she was in violation of the law, when in actuality she was not.

It seems to be that way. Thanks for sharing the article. At one point the prosecutors failed to prove their case. Under TX law though, she needs to have finished her supervised probation b4 being able to vote. I am not a lawyer, so all I can do is comment on what I have read.

Now you understand why we need to curb the power of judges. Fight to abolish judicial immunity so you never have to tweet about this kind of injustices.

Well, I know #Florida bans the convicted from voting. Many states do so, but the question is... How did she was allowed to vote, if there's a conviction on her record?

Not as well, but whoever allowed her to register and vote (since that’s against the law even AFTER you paid your debt to society) should go to jail INSTEAD!!!

I believe she voted with a provisional ballot, which is used when there is a discrepancy they can’t figure out at the time. So when the mixup is cleared up, your vote will still count.

I don't know how Texas handles the restoration of voting rights post convictions. Either the process is like, after sentence and probation one gets the rights restored. In both Florida and Kentucky, convicteds are forever banned from voting and only the Governor can restore it.
