Shaun in 10yrs when this young woman is looking for a job and employers search her history this will come up. She’s a minor protect her identity man.

What is going to come up?, she didn't do anything wrong, she is a victim of "white supremacy". Stop putting the blame in the victim. She has done nothing wrong, she should be proud of who she is, her culture and her heritage. She is beautiful, intelligent and will overcome this.
-
What’s going to come up may be something she doesn’t want to talk about. So let me say this again really loud SHE’S A MINOR. Her identity should be protected, she can’t give consent we are the adults here. So Kathy have a seat.
-
She will be proud her parents fought for her rights. That’s what I believe
-
And Chris all of that could be the same and this child’s identity could be still be protected. Is that lost on you. This is about journalism standards decaying or worse only being applied to white ppl. Not protecting her identity is wrong.
-
No nothing lost on me at all. It’s a matter of opinion at the end of the day. Maybe the girl was so upset she was happy to be named? I’d prefer to see the teachers named and shamed in all honesty. I just felt your comment deflected from the real issue at hand is all. My opinion

I encourage that beautiful girl's caucasian friends to come to school like this tomorrow.

They don’t have to co-opt her hairstyle to support her.
-
Sadly I disagree. I believe that in order to drive the point home the co-opting of the young lady’s hairstyle is precisely what should be done. Otherwise our voices are simply viewed as background noise. I wish it weren’t so but it takes white voices to make white ears hear...

I'm 100% here to listen. Anything that I, born with un-earned privilege, can do to amplify a message that fights

We have dealt with this where I live. They need a new policy or remove the policy. If the policy doesn’t change what happens later in the year or next year when it’s another student?http://www.wdrb.com/story/32691012/butler-high-school-adopts-new-hair-policy-amid-controversy …

I agree with you. This should never happen in the first place. Rules put in place in secret specifically to affect young black children. We just need to stop begging people to take our money when others are willing to do right by us for the same money.

Just in case anyone would like to call, or write, or visit and let them know how you feel about this: Christ the King School 2106 Deerfield Road, Terrytown, LA 70056 (504) 367-3601 Even though it says Terrytown, this is the school in Gretna
-
I just sent an email to mbordelon@arch-no.org. I made my opinion clear and pointed out that racism has no place in Catholicism.
-
I also wrote them. It’s despicable.
