In California, Hillary Clinton won San Diego County & Sacramento County by 20% over Donald Trump. It was a blowout. But the state and national Democratic Party machines have allowed Trump supporting Republicans to completely control the justice systems in those counties.
I'll close with this. Democrats - from the ones who're probably going to run for President - to the ones who run the state and national party machines - need to talk a little less about criminal justice reform and actual fight for the real pending reform bills & candidates
exactly right - Ds have been so afraid of having the 'soft on crime' label applied that they've neglected the issue altogether. they must reclaim it & push bail reform, abolition of youth prisons, review all policy barriers to employment post-release, & invest in communities.
It is well past time to focus on what we need to: local office and the judiciary, from justice of the peace to Supreme Court, is where much ignored power is.
Yes it is a shame! We had excellent reformer candidates for sheriff and AG in San Diego and they lost in our open primary in June. They would have had a chance in Nov.
It's almost as if the democrats just want to complain about things. Instead of making real changes, they just move on the the next thing to be offended about.
