Is it possible that he knew nothing. Yes. He is the insulated head of a huge bureaucracy, so the information may not have fully filtered to the top. The question is whether it is probable. I would think not, but again, plausible that member hide it from him, to protect him.

Unlikely. I do wonder what was in his power to control in the situation, however. He currently, however, has a lot of power to control this conversation.

And yet he does nothing. He's better than most popes, but that bar is so low as to be indistinguishable from the ground. Pope Frank is still a pope and will protect the church over its flock, at all costs.
